After Thoughts

I had some other points for and against the Coco trade.

Against - With slack Manny in LF and "I'm made of glass" Drew in right, it was nice to be able to have a defensive outfield where you had 2 people out there (Crisp and Ellsbury) that could really run the ball down. Even if it is in a relatively small yard.

For - I had a thought that maybe this was holding Ellsbury back. The inconsistencies of playing different positions, not playing every day, and moving up and down in the line-up. Maybe we just need to pick up a utility outfielder not as good as Kapler but not as bad as Wily Mo (ahh, Wily Mo.. the memories) to fill in whenever Drew hurts his back or the opposing team realizes that all you have to do is pitch Ellsbury inside. Oops.. maybe I shouldn't have let that little secret out of the bag.

Comments:
Thanks for the update Lano. My biggest complaint about the former Coco/Ellsbury platoon was in the playoffs against TB. There we were tied in the late innings, got a runner on first and all I'm thinking is "Put in Dave Roberts, ahem, Jacoby". But they don't, the Sox push the guy to 2nd, and strand him there (instead of getting a steal, and the hit would've pushed him home).

That's how they should've used them in that moment, and didn't.

As for moving on, I love where the team is at now, and don't see Cash as a big enough improvement at the plate to truly replace Tek. I say it's either Tek on the field, or Tek in the dugout with some young stud catcher behind the plate. They can't sign Lowell for a long term. Lowerie should replace Cora as utility backup, and they need a new everyday SS (not Lugo). I like Bay, and Drew too (but could use a Moss or someone behind him).

Biggest issue will be Theo, and what will tinker with. Will he mess with the rotation? Who'll be in the 5th spot, Byrd? Masterson?

And you put Pena in with Hanley & Bagwell?!?!? I think it's a little early for that.

Willy......Mo, Mo
